2026 QUILT BLOCK CONTEST

We invite quilters of all skill levels to join in the fun of the SOQS Quilt Block Contest! This annual challenge is a wonderful way to stretch your creativity, connect with the wider quilting community, and be part of the magic of the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Using a small packet of featured fabric, participants create a unique quilt block that reflects their personal style and imagination. It’s a joyful, approachable project—and a great way to celebrate quilting, creativity, and community with SOQS.
Celebrate and share your creativity with us for our Annual Quilt Block Contest. This year’s contest features the fabrics of Valori Wells.
We can’t wait to see your quilt blocks inspired by this gorgeous fabric line!
Notes for QBC 2026 - All entries:
1. Submit your Quilt Block to SOQS and after the Quilt Show, your entry will be returned to you – along with a fat quarter of Valori Wells The Wisdom Collection fabric to create your own fun project!
2. First Place winner will receive $50 cash, plus their own block and extra yardage of Valori Wells The Wisdom Collection fabric.
3. Honorable mention winners will receive their own quilt block and additional fabric from Valori Wells The Wisdom Collection.
QBC Rules for 2026:
• MATERIAL: Create a quilt block using the fabrics in your packet and one additional solid fabric of your choice. Please use each one of the fabrics provided. There is no need to pre-wash the fabrics.
• TECHNIQUE: Blocks may be sewn by hand or machine. You may use fusible web or interfacing. Embellishments such as hand embroidery, ribbons, buttons, and decorative machine stitches are welcome. Machine-embroidered blocks are not allowed.
• SIZE: Finished Blocks must measure 9½” x 9½” from raw edge to raw edge.
• JUDGING: Our Quilters Affair instructors will select their favorite blocks; The First Place and Honorable Mention blocks will all receive recognition ribbons. All Quilt Blocks will be on display on Quilt Show Day.
• LABEL: Sew or securely attach your name and address to the CENTER BACK of the block or use an address label. A sticky label in the center is easier to remove without distorting the block. Please do not tape or staple anything to your block.
All Blocks must be received no later than June 10, 2026
