INSIDE FIVEPINE
Christine Watkins
I am honored and excited to share some of my recent quilts at FivePine Lodge. I call this ten quilt collection “Simply Solids”. I used a variety of piecing techniques with solid color fabrics, then quilted simple straight lines with 1/2” spacing.
Sewing and later quilting have always been a big part of my life, but quilting went into overdrive in 2016 when I moved to Bend and joined my first quilt guild (Mountain Meadow Quilters). Previously, I was a hand quilter, but an evolution of style and a whole new world of “prolific quilting” opened up when I started using my domestic machine to quilt. I do still enjoy hand quilting, but machine quilting enables me to complete so many more quilts! Color inspiration comes from looking at my wall of fabrics and pulling together colors that make me happy. Additional inspiration comes from the many creative members of the Central Oregon Modern Quilt Guild. My husband and number one quilting supporter/quilt holder, Jed, and I live in Bend, OR. We make frequent trips to NH, MN, OH, and WA to visit our children and 2 little grandsons.
